It's difficult to be a person, too!

In order to face the future, you have to face the past.

I had discovered this by the time I graduated college and set out for my first job, living and working as a mental health counselor at a farm community for college students and adults with a range of severe mental health challenges.

Working there, I learned valuable lessons that inform how I work as a psychologist today:  We are first and foremost human beings not human doers, hope can emerge from even the darkest of times, we are all more similar than we are different, although each of us is complex and unique, we all develop patterns that can limit our growth, human connection is the basis of healing, healing and growth are sometimes invisible and often not linear processes, and we all need to feel seen, heard, and valued.

As a therapist, this has inspired me to want to help you, on your unique journey of healing and growth.

Areas of Expertise

Anxiety &
Depression

Anxiety and/or depression is not a personality trait, but a symptom of a deeper issue that needs healing. It's your body telling you that something needs your attention. Therapy is a great way to figure out exactly what that is and to resolve it. Through personalized strategies, you'll learn to navigate tough emotions and rediscover inner peace.

Stress &
Overwhelm

Many of us feel a chronic sense of stress and overwhelm. It can be paralyzing, exhausting, and impact our relationships and ability to fulfill our responsibilities. Often, we use maladaptive strategies to cope that might be short-term helpful but long-term harmful. In therapy, we gently explore what's happening and identify helpful ways to navigate it.

Relationship
Issues

Sometimes we find ourselves caught in a pattern where we don't feel heard and understood which leads to hurt, sadness, disconnection, and conflict. Unresolved pain is activated and we begin to argue and/or shut down. In therapy, I help you examine the pattern that keeps you in a negative cycle that prevents you from experiencing the loving connection you desire.
